I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, around people who built businesses. My family has built companies in HVAC and home services, commercial carpet cleaning and maintenance, specialty pharmacies, legal-services administration, energy efficiency and maintenance, and clothing stores. My uncle and cousin built Redwood Services, an HVAC and home services company that partners with great local operators and helps them grow the right way. My great uncle started Lansky Brothers, known as the "Clothier to the King," and clothed Elvis for his whole career.
I started my career in finance, in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and private equity at Thomas H. Lee Partners and Banyan Square Partners, where I invested in essential services and technology companies and worked with their management teams on add-on acquisitions, financings, and strategic growth plans.
During my MBA at Wharton, I went back to Memphis as Chief of Staff at Redwood Services, which by then had more than 20 partner companies and was valued at over $1 billion. I worked with the CEO, CFO and COO on integrating newly acquired companies into the business, and with the call center, dispatchers, technicians, and owners on partner performance across sales, operations, and strategic finance. I also helped build the systems behind a set of company-wide process improvements. Working with the team on the investment from Altas Partners, and seeing how well it worked out for the local operators who had joined Redwood, is what made me want to buy a business and build on it myself.
I live in New York City with my wife, Olivia, who is excited for me to find a great business to buy. I enjoy playing soccer and compete in several adult leagues in the city. I'm also a passionate fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and watch every game they play, which is too often painful to do.
